    Basketball Team Code of Conduct
    (Registration Requirement)

    1. Purpose
The South City Rebels Basketball Club is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, respectful, and positive environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected of players, parents/guardians, coaches, officials, volunteers, referees, and spectators. Acceptance of this Code is a condition of registration.
    2. Club Values
    • Respect – for all people involved in the game
    • Team First – decisions that support the whole group
    • Effort & Development – improvement over outcomes
    • Integrity & Sportsmanship – on and off the court
    • Safety & Inclusion – zero tolerance for abuse, bullying, harassment, or discrimination
    3. Player Code of Conduct
Players of the South City Rebels must:
    • Treat coaches, referees, officials, volunteers, teammates, and opponents with respect
    • Follow coach instructions during training and games
    • Play within the rules and spirit of the game
    • Accept referee decisions without argument
    • Support teammates positively
    • Use appropriate language and behaviour
    • Respect facilities, equipment, and venues

Unacceptable behaviour includes arguing with officials, abusive language, unsportsmanlike conduct, bullying, harassment, or intimidation.
    4. Parent / Guardian Code of Conduct
    Parents and guardians must:
    • Support all players, not just their own child
    • Encourage effort, learning, and teamwork
    • Respect coaches, referees, officials, volunteers, and opponents
    • Allow coaches to coach and referees to officiate
    • Communicate concerns through appropriate club channels
    • Model respectful behaviour from the seating areas
South City Rebels is a volunteer-run club. Coaches, team managers, officials, and committee members give their time to support all children. Decisions are made in the best interests of the club as a whole and cannot always meet the preferences of individual families. Parents are expected to consider the impact of their behaviour on all children, volunteers, and team culture.
    5. Coaches, Officials & Volunteers Code of Conduct
All coaches, officials, and volunteers must act as positive role models, communicate professionally, apply expectations consistently, promote safety and inclusion, and prioritise player welfare at all times.
    6. Respect for Referees & Officials
Referees and officials are essential to the game. Their decisions are final and must be respected. Abuse or intimidation of referees or officials will not be tolerated and must be addressed through official club channels only.
    7. Spectator Behaviour & Seating Areas
All spectators must remain in designated seating areas, follow directions from referees, coaches, team managers, and club officials, and refrain from entering the court or technical areas unless authorised.
    8. Behaviour Management & Removal Process
The club follows a graduated process for managing unacceptable behaviour:
    • Verbal warning issued by an official
    • Direction to cease behaviour or move seating areas
    • Removal from the venue for the remainder of the session
    • Club review and disciplinary action for serious or repeated breaches
    9. Serious Misconduct
Serious misconduct includes physical violence, threats, abusive or discriminatory language, harassment, intimidation, or repeated breaches of this Code. Serious misconduct may result in immediate removal and formal disciplinary action.
    10. Acknowledgement & Registration Agreement
By registering with the South City Rebels Basketball Club, players and parents/guardians acknowledge they have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct as a condition of participation.
